Today, the Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) party members in Gauteng are set to gather at Beyers Naude Square in Johannesburg to show their support for former African National Congress (ANC) President Jacob Zuma.
Zuma, who will be represented by former ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member Tony Yengeni, is expected to appear before the party’s national disciplinary hearing on a virtual platform.
Jacob Zuma has been charged under rule 25 of the ANC constitution for endorsing the MK party in the polls held on 29 May. The disciplinary hearing is anticipated to be a significant event, and MK party members are rallying to show their solidarity.

The Johannesburg coordinator for the MK party, Anthony Zengele, has emphasized the importance of peaceful support.
“We don’t have a right to go to Luthuli House but we are converging to give support to the president. We pledge even our supporters not to go to Luthuli House because it might create violence,” said Zengele.
Despite the potential for tension, Zengele reiterated the MK party’s commitment to peace. “We are not a violent organization but we anticipate peace every time.
“What I’m saying is that it’s a programme that is made in Gauteng that we are supporting the president. What they are trying to do is bring the kangaroo court to our president,” he added.
The MK party aims to maintain order and avoid any confrontations during their gathering.
