South Africans are eagerly awaiting President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of the new cabinet.
The timing of this announcement remains uncertain, as Ramaphosa is currently consulting with leaders of various parties that have decided to join the Government of National Unity (GNU).
Among these parties are the PA, PAC, and Rise Mzansi, which have recently confirmed their participation in the GNU.

Political analyst Enoch Maponya emphasizes the difficulty of the situation, stating, “We have got the challenge for the president, all the current political parties that are in the government of national unity itself. It’s not an easy task to constitute that cabinet.”
According to reports, an agreement has been reached between the DA and the ANC that 60 per cent of cabinet members will be from the ANC, 30 per cent from the DA, and the remaining 10 per cent from other participating parties.
This unique arrangement underscores the complexity and significance of Ramaphosa’s decisions.
The public’s sentiments vary widely. Some South Africans are optimistic about a balanced representation of officials from various parties in the new cabinet.
They hope for a departure from past administrations, particularly in avoiding individuals accused of corruption. Others are cautiously optimistic, recognizing the inherent challenges while hoping for positive changes.
Meanwhile, residents of Hangberg and Mandela Park are expressing their challenges and expectations from the new government. Their voices reflect the broader anticipation and concern among South Africans regarding the potential impact of the GNU on their lives.
